RECWATER fabrics are made from solution-dyed acrylic fibers with a PVC coating on one side, making them absolutely waterproof. The PVC coating is colored to match the color of the acrylic, so it’s possible to combine the elegance of acrylic fabric with waterproof PVC performance.
The PVC coating is formulated to achieve perfect adhesion with the acrylic fabric. Unlike other products on the market, RECWATER will not crack and has excellent dimensional stability.
The PVC-free side is treated for good water and oil repellency, while the coated side is etched with a design that gives the fabric a PVC look.
Being a heavier, more resistant product than Ultrasol (Recacril®), it is particularly suitable for the manufacture of boat tops in areas with extreme weather conditions. It is also suitable for awnings in rainy climates. In this case, the weight of the article must be taken into account when choosing the structure.
RECWATER fabrics undergo rigorous quality control throughout the manufacturing process, meeting all the requirements for approval under standard UNE-EN 13561:2004+A1:2009 (Performance requirements, including awning safety).
Micro-organisms responsible for decay, such as mold, algae and bacteria, can damage acrylic-coated fabrics.
To prevent the appearance of these micro-organisms and ensure the quality of our fabrics, RECWATER fabrics are treated with antimicrobial products that offer optimum protection.
Antimicrobial products prevent microorganisms from adhering to the fabric, however, these microorganisms can grow on dirt and other foreign substances if they are not removed from the fabric. To maximize the life of RECWATER fabrics, periodic cleaning is essential, as described in the Maintenance section.

Recwater is a fabric made by Recasens mainly for the marine industry that maintains the natural beauty finish and durability of a 100% solution dyed acrylic fabric while being 100% waterproof, thanks to a PVC coating on one side. It’s really the best of both worlds and it performs better than any product of its kind on the market due to the coating process, which prevents cracking and peeling of the PVC from the main fabric that occurs in laminated versions of this fabric type.
